German-American novelist and screenwriter, whose Donovan's Brain was made into a classic horror movie.







1903 - Ward Moore 
American author whose most famous work is the 1953 alternate history Bring the Jubilee.








1912 - Jorge Amado
The "best-known of modern Brazilian writers," Amado's works have been translated into 49 different languages.








1924 - Nancy Buckingham
The pen name of Nancy Joyce Buckingham, who wrote gothic and romance fiction in collaboration with her husband John Sawyer. They also wrote using the pseudonyms Christina Abbey, Erica Quest, Nancy John and Hilary London.
