American writer, best known for his 1949 novel The Man with the Golden Arm, which was adapted into a movie starring Frank Sinatra.

American author of children's books, four of which were Caldecott Honor books.






1936 - Mario Vargas Llosa
Peruvian-Spanish writer; recipient of the 2010 Nobel Prize in Literature "for his cartography of structures of power and his trenchant images of the individual's resistance, revolt and defeat."
